Business Excellence Review Service
a personal benchmarking of your manufacturing planning and control processes

How well do you plan and control your business?
I have looked at how hundreds of companies of all sizes and in all industries plan and control their operations. I am therefore able to make a rapid, independent assessment of how well you plan and control your business and, more importantly, what opportunities you have to improve both in the short term and in the long term. The review is based on our well established ABCD checklist.

If you are considering or about to purchase manufacturing planning software, I can help in your choice of package.
If you are thinking of upgrading manufacturing planning software, I will evaluate how appropriate it is to your business and how well you are using what you already have.

The areas I look at include :

Sales forecasting - frequency and use
Delivery performance (on time in full)
Integration of financial plans & budget with operational plans
Data accuracy :
Inventory records
Bills of material
Work in progress
Purchasing data
Capacity planning - number of overloaded work centres
Uncontrolled costs
Excess or obsolete inventory
Material control techniques in use
Vendor performance
Lead times - have they reduced?
New product introduction integrated into the plans
Control of engineering changes
Quality control and yields

What I can offer is an objective view of how well you perform on each of the above points in relation to other, similar businesses. My report will also give you practical suggestions for improvement in the short term as well as longer term and, more often than not, more radical suggestions for future development.

I will provide you with a list of the people I would like to talk to and the information I will be looking for so that some preparation work can be done in advance to make the most use of the time.

How long will it take?
Because I have carried out many such reviews, I would generally need only two days for each site or division to be assessed although I will carry out a more detailed review if you prefer. Larger sites or divisions (say more than 300 people) would require a minimum of three days per site.

Report
Following the review I will give you a report on your performance which can include your rating using the ABCD checklist and a comparison both with other companies in your country and industry as well as comparisons against companies in other industries and countries. I will also provide short and long term suggestions for changes, a cost and benefit analysis of any changes and an implementation plan.

Where appropriate, I will comment on the use of any planning software and upgrade suggestions or give you an independent and objective guide to the selection of appropriate software.

Feedback
I would also be happy to come back after you have had a chance to read the report to discuss the finding and ways that we can help you implement any suggestions.

The cost
The review fee is £2,300 per review day which includes the report. Travel and accommodation will be charged at cost as appropriate.

My "no quibble" guarantee
In the unlikely event that you consider the review was not useful you need not pay my review fee. If I carry out the review I will make sure I am personally available for telephone discussions, e-mail and/or visits to help you with the project to your satisfactory conclusion. I only charge for visits.
