The presentation outlines the basic planning techniques and the critical success factors that will enable you to get real business benefits from an integrated planning system, we call this Business Excellence.

I worked for many years in manufacturing management using the Business Excellence techniques that we were taught. More recently I have visited company after company who struggle with costs and on time delivery and I now realise that whilst the Business Excellence techniques are not difficult, they seldom evolve naturally. However, once these techniques have been taught and put into use by all parts of the company including the technical side, sales, finance, operations and planning, not only does performance improve dramatically but everyone's working life is improved also.

Successfully implementing an ERP system is not just a case of getting the new software working. Having integrated software means everyone can be kept up to date with the latest changes to forecasts, sales, designs, operations and costs. But, to get the benefits of integration every department has to work in a way that is not just best or easiest for themselves but for everyone and this means, among other things, accurate and timely updating of all critical data. This is often not the way people are used to working.
