An ERP implementation case study using Control-ERP software at City Technology

City Technology Ltd is a world-leading manufacturer of gas sensors, specialising in the development of innovative, customised solutions in partnerships with customers. The company has risen from comparatively humble beginnings in 1977 to become a global supplier of over a million sensors each year to major gas detection instrument manufacturers in 37 countries. City Technology has an envied reputation for quality products, cutting-edge designs and technical excellence, having received numerous awards including two for Queen's Award for technological achievement and two Queen's Awards, for export achievement.
Their head office is in a purpose built site in Portsmouth, England. This site houses a streamlined Production unit, Administration office and an extensive Research and Development facility. Having gained a well-earned reputation for supplying high quality, high end products, City Technology has had to remain competitive through continuous research and development and a continual strategy for reducing "the time to market" of their products.

In 1998, City Technology recognised the need for an integrated back office system to support their phenomenal expansion and to support their future growth. After careful consideration of the market leading software available, they selected Control.erp. They wanted a software suite that would improve their stock visibility, streamline sales, purchasing and manufacturing and reduce production of paper based reports and re-keying of data. Integration, flexibility and tailorability were key functionalities required. Control Group could provide the complete integrated package with their flagship software Control.erp. I T Manager Sheila Maplesden said, " Since going live our general administration has strengthened. Sales and Accounts department have access to the same information, eliminating departmental barrier. We now have excellent control over free issue stock, which was totally missing on our previous system. We have also benefited from improved tracking of Sales Orders and Purchase Orders and achieved significant savings in time and stationery costs due to direct generation of sales data and reports from Control.erp instead of having to re-key data."

Since going live, City Technology has seen a dramatic improvement in the daily running and financial management of the company enabling them to focus on their core business and keep ahead of competition.
